Cariñena holds the distinction of being the first European region to produce Garnacha wines, with a winemaking tradition that dates back to the 15th century.
In 2023, Wine Enthusiast highlighted Cariñena as a "Hot Spanish region to watch," praised for its great value and intensely flavorful wines.
The region’s winemaking culture dates back to the 15th century and its D.O.P. (Denominación de Origen Protegida) was created in 1932 making Cariñena one of the oldest officially recognized regions in Spain.
